It is reported that this year marks the 30th anniversary of China’s undertaking of world natural heritage and the 35th anniversary of the undertaking of scenic spots. With the approval of the State Council, since 2017, the second Saturday of June every year is set up as “Cultural and Natural Heritage Day”.
According to the requirements of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, all regions organize and carry out activities such as popular science lectures, research forums, public welfare exhibitions, World Heritage entering the community and entering the campus in combination with actual conditions to publicize the development achievements of China’s cultural and natural heritage undertakings, further play the important role of world culture and natural heritage sites, scenic spots, etc. in the protection of natural and cultural resources, benefiting people’s livelihood, aesthetic enlightenment and precise poverty alleviation.
It is reported that the Ministry of Housing and construction has organized 74 world heritage sites and scenic spots to actively participate in public welfare activities, each providing 500 free experience places to the public, from 15th day of this month, you can make an appointment on the official website of China Scenic Area Association.
“This is intended to arouse and enhance the awareness of the whole society to care for, support and participate in heritage protection, and promote the construction of ecological civilization and cultural prosperity and development,” said the Ministry of Housing and construction.
According to reports, the total number of world heritages in China has reached 50, ranking second in the world. Among them, there are 11 World natural heritages, 4 natural and cultural heritages, 30 cultural heritages and 5 cultural landscapes. The State Council approved the establishment of 244 national scenic spots and 807 provincial scenic spots approved by the provincial people’s government. The total area of the two areas reached 214000 square kilometers, accounting for of the total land area in our country.
