After receiving the report, the quarantine personnel of the Hangzhou airport office of the bureau immediately carried out on-site disposal. After epidemiological investigation and medical investigation, it was preliminarily determined that the case was spread from food-borne diseases, and the food on board was excluded. Three passengers with digestive tract symptoms were found when the rest of the passengers on the same plane were searched. The quarantine personnel of the Bureau collected four excrement samples and sent them to the laboratory of Zhejiang International travel health care center for testing, confirming that two of them were cases of digestive tract infection caused by Vibrio parahaemates.
After investigation, it was found that two passengers who were detected to be infected with Vibrio parahaemates had eaten seafood together on the evening of the 4th. This is the second case of Vibrio parahaemates infection recently found in Hangzhou airport among inbound and outbound passengers, which is caused by overseas seafood consumption.
In addition, the quarantine personnel of the bureau sampled and processed the air food, food ice and water supply at the time of entry, and sent the samples to Zhejiang Institute of Inspection and Quarantine science and technology for testing. Further disinfection and pest removal were carried out on the flight, with emphasis on strengthening the location of passengers and the handling of front and rear rows and rear cabin toilets used by passengers, and on the spot of investigation, international arrival lounge bathroom was finally disinfected.
Zhejiang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau also investigated the relevant flight attendants of the airline and investigated 82 other passengers on the same plane.
“Through epidemiological investigation, laboratory test results, combined with the clinical symptoms and signs of passengers, the current evidence cannot be determined as a mass digestive tract infection event, it was judged that there were 2 sporadic cases of Vibrio parahaemase infection detected at Hangzhou airport port.” The person in charge of Zhejiang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau said that the symptoms of the patients had been relieved the next day, and currently all patients basic cured.
Zhejiang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau followed up 82 other passengers and 7 crew members on the same plane for 72 hours. At present, no new cases have occurred in all passengers and crew, and the incident has been properly handled.
It is reported that food-borne diseases are one of the most prominent public health problems worldwide. Especially for young children, food-borne diseases may bring serious consequences. Around 0.55 billion people worldwide suffer from diarrhea every year, including 0.22 billion children under the age of five, causing 1.8 million deaths, most of which are attributed to diet contaminated by food-borne pathogenic bacteria.
“In response to the high incidence of food-borne infectious diseases in summer and autumn, Zhejiang inspection and quarantine department will strengthen port supervision. In particular, strengthen the supervision of key flights in Southeast Asia and other routes, strictly carry out quarantine inspection for high-risk groups such as outbound tourism, old and weak children, and strictly prevent the import of food-borne diseases outside China.” The person in charge of Zhejiang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau told the reporter that next, the bureau will strictly supervise drinking water and food hygiene at ports, do a good job in health management of food practitioners, and carry out targeted travel health consultation, people traveling in Africa give advice from the perspectives of food hygiene and safety, one seedling to prevent two diseases, etc.
