At 05:58 on May 11, an earthquake of 5.5 magnitude occurred in Kashgar, Kashgar, Xinjiang (37.58 degrees NORTH LATITUDE, 75.25 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 8 kilometers. As of 12:00 on the 11th, 8 people were killed, 23 were injured (5 were seriously injured), and 1520 houses collapsed or were seriously damaged. After the earthquake, Chen Zhu, president of the Red Cross Society of China, asked about the disaster situation many times and directed the deployment of disaster relief work. The Red Cross Society of China quickly launched rescue work:
The first is to start the three-level emergency response, from 50 tents of Kashgar Red Cross the warehouse allotting, 200 family packs, 500 quilts, and 100000 yuan of emergency relief reserve fund to support local disaster relief work.
The second is to send a disaster relief working group to the disaster area and jointly carry out disaster relief work with the local Red Cross.
The third is to send Xinjiang relief and rescue teams to assist in the rescue work.
According to reports, in recent years, the Red Cross Society of China has continuously plus-sized reserves of disaster preparedness materials in Xinjiang. Up to now, four direct-managed disaster recovery warehouses including Kashgar warehouses have been set up in Xinjiang, and they are equipped with reserve materials that can meet the basic needs of more than 8,000 families, it can effectively deal with the disaster relief in Xinjiang and its surrounding areas.
